Din Ky ship sink left 16 dead

On May 20 the Din Ky pleasure boat capsized on the Saigon River in the southern province of Binh Duong, leaving 16 dead, including four Chinese.

Lawyer Ha Hai, who represented the four families, said the company had signed an agreement on August 3 to provide compensation payments.

As a result, compensation of USD13,500 will be granted to two of the Chinese families with the remaining two other families receiving USD11,000 each.

The families had initially demanded compensation of USD60,000 per victim.

Tran Dinh Son, who lost seven family members in the accident, has agreed compensation of VND200 million (USD9,701) per victim.
