Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung reaffirmed the Party and State’s consistent policy at a reception for Bishop Nguyen An Nhon, President of the Vietnam Episcopal Council in Hanoi on February 1.

Dung briefed the Bishop on the major achievements Vietnamese people, including the Catholic community, have made in recent times, and acknowledged that various religious activities were held in a lawful manner across the country last year.

He expressed his hope that religious dignitaries and followers will continue to live an evangelical life alongside the nation and make a further contribution to national development.

He extended the best wishes to dignitaries of the Vietnam Episcopal Council and Catholic followers on the occasion of the upcoming traditional Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday.

Bishop thanked the Party and State for paying due attention to the Catholic community’s development over the years and said he and other dignitaries of the council will encourage dioceses and their followers to practise the religion by law and make a practical contribution to the nation.
