Landslide kills six in Lang Son Province

A landslide in Lang Son Province on September 17 morning left six dead and five injured, according to local authorities. 

Hoang Van Tam, deputy head of the Board for Flood and Storm Prevention and Control of the province, said that the incident occurred in the Keo Kham Commune, Dong Dang Town while typhoon Kalmaegi was hitting some northern provinces. This was an area where construction workers were temporarily living in tents.

The known fatalities included two from Bac Son District of Lang Son and four from Bac Kan Province.

Among the five injured, two have been discharged from hospital, while the rest are being held for observation and further treatment.

About an hour after the first, there was another landslide in Pha Ca Commune, Cao Loc District, Lang Son Province on the same day, which knocked down the wall of a house, local authorities reported.

The wall fell on a 5-year-old child and a 31-year-old woman, killing the child and seriously injuring the woman.
