Survivor of sunken ship handed over to Philippine Embassy in Vietnam
Angelito Capindo Rojas, chef of sunken cargo ship Bulk Jupiter, was
handed over to representatives of Philippine Embassy in Vietnam on
January 6 in Vung Tau city, southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau.
Angelito Capindo Rojas, who is now in stable condition, is the only survivor of the ship so far. The Bahamas nationality ship with 19 members on board sank at 150 nautical miles off Vung Tau southeastern coast on January 2, while carrying iron ores from Malaysia to China.
Maritime rescue forces from Ba Ria–Vung Tau saved the chef and recovered two bodies - Captain Ronel Acueza Andrin and a 24-year-old sailor Jerome Maquilang Dinoy.
The two bodies will be handed over to the Philippine Embassy’s representatives on January 7.
