The Netherlands heavy lift transport vessel, the Rolldock Star, carrying the third Russian built Kilo-class submarine, the HQ-184 Haiphong, for delivery to Vietnam has departed Singapore.

The Rolldock Star should arrive at Cam Ranh Port in Khanh Hoa province in the early hours of January 28, completing its 44-day journey transporting the submersible warship from St. Petersburg, Russia.

Pursuant to contract, Russia has agreed to construct six diesel-electric submarines for Vietnam at a cost of US$2 billion.  Vietnam previously took possession of the first two vessels, the HQ-182 Hanoi and HQ-183 Ho Chi Minh City.

The fourth, the HQ-185 Danang, is in the pipeline currently undergoing sea trials at the Baltic Sea. Construction of the fifth, the HQ-186 Khanh Hoa, got underway in December 2014 and work on the sixth, the HQ-187 Ba Ria-Vung Tau, began in May 2014.
