Four killed in military helicopter crash

 A UH-1 helicopter of the Vietnam Air Force crashed in HCM City this morning, all four crew members were killed.

The helicopter lost contact during a flight training exercise early this morning.

Lieutenant-general Vo Van Tuan, deputy chief of general staff of the Vietnam People's Army, told the Vietnam News Agency's correspondent that the helicopter took off from Tan Son Nhat Airport in HCM City at 7.15am and lost contact at 7.23am.

Rescue forces were quickly sent to search for the helicopter.

By 1pm, the searching team has found the helicopter crashed in Binh Chanh District. All four people on the helicopter have been killed.


 Local people gathered around the site where the helicopter crashed in Pham Van Hai Commune, Binh Chanh District, HCM City.

The UH-1 belongs to the Air Force Regiment 917, under the Air Force Division 370 of the Vietnam Air Force and Air Defence Force.

In July 2014, a military helicopter under the Air Defence-Air Force Service crashed in Hoa Lac Village, Binh Yen Commune, in Hanoi's Thach That District, killing 20 crew members.
