At least 65 complaints have been made about gift-related bribes over the Tet
The Anti-Corruption Department under the Government Inspectorate said in a report on state officials giving and receiving gifts that, based on premilinary reports by ministries, branches, localities and state-owned corporations and groups, "We’ve yet to detect any cases where state officers inappropriately gave or receiving gifts during the Tet holiday."
However, the department’s hotline at (04) 08048228, as well as the department’s director, received at least 65 phone calls, messages and documents denouncing gift-related bribes for the 30 days before, during and after the Tet.
Most of the complaints related to industry and trade, transportation, natural resources and environment, education and healthcare.
“We’ve provided guidances to deal with 32 cases and reported to the Government Inspectorate for further investigations into the remaining cases,” the department said in the report, but the indication was that no evidence was expected to be found requiring any action
