Circus talent competition set for Dec in Hanoi

More than 200 local artists will compete at the 2015 Vietnam-Laos-Cambodia Young Circus Talent Contest, December 8-12, in Hanoi, according to the Department of Performing Arts.

At a press conference on December 1, the department announced some 600 young performers from the region aged 14 to 27 have registered to compete for prizes in the five categories of acrobatics, juggling, balancing, magic, and circus clowns.

“The competition, held triennially, aims to cement the friendship and solidarity among people, especially youth of the three nations,” said Nguyen Dang Chuong, head of the Performing Arts Department.

In addition, Chuong noted the event is an excellent chance for future circus talents to learn and exchange experience with each other and hone their stage performance and acrobatic skills.
