Fishermen catch one-tonne moon fish

Fishermen in the central province of Nghe An has caught a one-tonne moon fish and presented it to the Vietnam Natural History Museum.

On August 14, the fishing boat owned by Dao Van Huan in Quynh Long Commune, Quynh Luu District brought the giant moon fish. Hundreds of local people rushed to the wharf to see the fish.

Huan said that he caught the fish while his fishing boat was operating in the Gulf of Tonkin on August 10. He and other fishermen spent hours bring the fish onto the boat.

According to Huan, at that time, the fishermen also caught a moon fish weighing 200kg which was still alive, so, they freed it into the sea.

Huan's fishing boat caught four moon fish weighing a total one tonne. He then gave them to the Vietnam Natural History Museum for research and display work.
