According to Google, information technology can help solve some of the most difficult and biggest problems such as how to improve economic efficiency in agriculture.

Nearly 50% of the workforce are in the agriculture sector which contributes just 20% of GDP. Agricultural production is facing various issues because of urbanisation and climate change.

Eric Schmidt, executive chairman of Google's parent company Alphabet, said information and technology were making significant changes in the daily lives of millions of people. He hoped farmers could improve productivity and access information when they know how to make a better use of the Internet.

Lai Xuan Mon, chairman of Vietnam Farmer Association, also hoped the project would boost the application of advanced technology in the agriculture sector and improve rural living standards.
