Da Nang authorities to encourage locals to smile more
The Da Nang Department of Tourism on September 19 launched the Da Nang Smile Campaign to promote a ‘civilised’ lifestyle among local residents, which is among activities in preparation for the upcoming APEC Economic Leaders’ Week.
The two-month campaign, the first of its kind in the city, calls on residents to smile more, a small action with a long-lasting effect that contributes to promoting the Da Nang FantastiCity brand. This is aimed to help turn the coastal city into a ‘civilised’, friendly, safe and attractive destination for visitors.
Nguyen Ngoc Tuan, vice chairman of the municipal people’s committee, said that through the campaign, he hoped that local residents can become a cultural ambassador of the city to leave a good impression on APEC guests.
Last year, the government allocated VND400 billion (USD17.9 million) of the state budget to help Da Nang’s preparations to host the 2017 APEC Summit.
The event is scheduled to take place in Danang city on November 6-11, attracting the participation of heads of state and CEOs from 21 APEC member economies.
