 >>  Cruise ship launched in Nghe An and Ha Tinh
A USD2m cruise ship operating on the Lam River to take visitors to popular tourist sites in the central provinces of Nghe An and Ha Tinh is found to be operating without licenses.

Giang Dinh Co Do cruise ship was launched on September 1 with two floors to accommodate 340 passengers. Tourists will be able to visit Hon Ngu Island, Cua Lo Beach, Doc Cuoc Temple and enjoy various entertainment activities offered on the ship including traditional singing and cuisine in Nghe An and other regions.

Vice Chairman of Ha Tinh Province People's Committee Dang Quoc Vinh said more firms had invested in Ha Tinh, boosting the local economy and Giang Dinh Co Do was the first of many coming tourism projects.

However, two weeks later, Ha Tinh Department of Transport said that the cruise ship still lacked required documents and licence. The investor, Song Ngu Son-Giang Dinh JSC, was only given the inland waterway vessel registration certificate on June 23 and still lacks the transport business licence.

The company also hasn't been granted permits for routes, wharfs, fire and waterway safety.

According to police, Lam River has a 3.1m tide range slope so transportation is risky. It would be a disaster if anything wrong happens to a large cruise ship.
