Damage is already evident at Hoa Binh (Peace) Park which was just opened October 8, to mark the 1000th anniversary of Thang Long-Hanoi.

Stone pieces have been peeled off on the left side of the park’s main gate. Inside the park, several stones are damaged. The foundation of the staircase to a house for visitors to rest has sunk.

Nguyen Van Vinh, a guard at the park said, “The park has become operational, but a number of works have not yet been finished.”

Mr. Son, a resident from Xuan Dinh Commune, Tu Liem District, Hanoi, said that he could not imagine that the mentioned-above situation was seen at this newly-built park.

Dantri/DTiNews reporters have not been unable to contact the park’s investor for more information.

The 20 hectare park, located in Xuan Dinh Commune, cost VND282 billion (USD14.46 million). It accommodates a 5.5-ha lake, green space, parking lots and many other facilities. The Statue of Peace, 7.2m high, is in the heart of the park.

Approved in 2001 by the prime minister, Hoa Binh was designed to become a cultural and entertainment park in Hanoi.
