The man was Tsai Tsung Mou, 47 whose seat number was 29E on VJ941 flight from Taipei to Hanoi on December 21. He was found smoking in the restroom by flight attendants.

After landing, the flight crew handed over him to authorities of Noi Bai International Airport for the settlement and he was fined VND4 million for his violation.

Under the regulations of the Civil Aviation Administration of Vietnam (CAAV), smoking is banned on all flights, including e-cigarettes.
However, dozens of such violations still happen every year.

In July this year, CAAV also banned a man in Nghe An Province from flights for nine months for smoking on a flight, but he tried to evade the fine payment.
