The exhibition titled Hanoi trái tim hồng (Hanoi-the heart of the country) comprises 85 photos selected from about 2,000 candidates taken by photographers and members of the Press Photo Club under the Vietnam Journalists’ Association (VJA).

The works displayed at the exhibition have high artistic value, reflecting the true, rich and multifaceted life of the people in the capital, and showcased the vitality of the city.

Nguyễn Thế Dũng, chairman of the Press Photo Club, said in the five month-long photo contest for the exhibition, the organisers received about 1,216 single photos and four groups of photos by hundreds of members to apply for the contest.

Most of the photographs submitted to this year’s exhibition were relatively high quality, focusing on Hanoi on the way of renewal and development, according to the organising board.

The authors have taken advantage of their shooting skills in combination with different functions of high standard and modern cameras to create unique works.

First prize was awarded to a photo Hanoi trên đường phát triển (Hanoi on the way to development) by Đường Hồng Mai. Two second prizes were bestowed on two photos by Phạm Văn Học and Lê Huy Long.

Standing Vice Chairman of the VJA Hồ Quang Lợi praised the Press Photo Club for holding such a "meaningful" photo exhibition, saying it had helped reveal love of photographers for the capital city.

The festival which started on Friday, is held by the VJA, the Hanoi People’s Committee, the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee’s Information and Education Commission, the Ministry of Information and Communications, and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
