Despite losing to South Korea in the semi-finals, the Vietnamese Olympic team were praised by local fans. 

Many people expressed sympathy for Vietnam on Facebook. It was unsurprising Vietnam lost to South Korea.

Some foreigners also expressed their support to Vietnam’s U23 football team, saying that they had performed well at ASIAD 18. They hoped that Vietnam would get the bronze medal. 

After the semi-final match ended on Wednesday evening, thousands of Vietnamese fans rushed to streets in Hanoi anyway. 

Despite heavy rain, streets around Hoan Kiem Lake were crowded with national flags, banners and music.

People hoped that Vietnam would win the bronze medal in the match against the United Arab Emirates.
