Chairman of Danang City People’s Committee Huynh Duc Tho have presented a bonus for recent joint efforts by local police, customs and border guard forces to seize more than 10 tonnes of ivory. 

Tho granted the certificates of merit and the bonus of VND60 million (USD2,727) to the forces.

The ivory shipment imported from Nigeria was detected at Tien Sa Port on October 4

According to the municipal border guards, the ivory shipment imported from Nigeria was detected at Tien Sa Port on the afternoon of October 4. It was hidden in a recycled plastic container imported from Nigeria by the Thien Truong Su Ltd. Co.

Colonel Ton Quoc Khanh, head of the force, said that right after being found, the force worked with the police to cordon off the scene and check the seized shipment.
