Bodies of two men found in concrete

On May 15, the bodies of two men were found encased in concrete in a local house. The police later arrested four women for suspected involvement in a murder case. It was later found out that the women and the men were members of an as yet unidentified cult.

In last October, 29-year-old Le Ngoc Phuong Thao rented a house in Hung Hoa Commune. The group included four women and two men, 50-year-old Tran Duc Linh and 27-year-old Tran Tri Thanh. Two months later, they moved to Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province.

The women told the police that the members had to take on a strict diet. The six were supposed to fast for 10 days, Linh couldn't take any more and tried to escape by jumping out of a first floor window. One of the women, Pham Thi Thien Ha said she took the severely injured Linh back to his room instead of bringing him to the hospital.

However, autopsy results show that there are signs that Linh might have been strangled to death. Ha's statements were unclear and contradictory. At first, she said Linh jumped and died on the spot, then she said Linh was injured and died later.

When being questioned about the second victim, the women said Tran Tri Thanh was possessed by the devil so they killed him. After killing two men, they encased the bodies in concrete.

Thanh's neighbours said he and his mother often used to distribute leaflets to ask them to join the cult.
