A police officer has been fined for causing disorder at Tan Son Nhat Airport

A video clip showing an angry woman shouting at some Vietnam Airlines staff at the Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City went viral in recent days.

The woman was soon identified as Le Thi Hien, who is working at the traffic police division of Hanoi's Dong Da District.

Investigation from Hanoi Police revealed that the incident occurred on August 11 when Hien came to check in for a Vietnam Airlines' flight to Hanoi.

She got angry when a staff at the airport refused to transport her fifth suitcase in the free baggage allowance.

Following her insulting the staff, Vietnam Airlines refused to transport her on her flight that day. And on August 17, she was also fined VND200,000 for causing disorders.

Head of the department, Doan Duy Khuong, told Dantri/DTiNews on Friday morning that Hien's behaviour was unacceptable.

"We've decided to suspend Hien from her post for 30 days as a reprimand," the official said, adding that they are still investigating the case to consider suitable punishment.

In an interview with the Transport Newspaper at her office in Hanoi on Friday morning, Le Thi Hien said that she is still working and had not heard about the suspension.

"The incident occurred more than 10 days ago and nothing has happened until the video was published some days ago," Hien told the Transport Newspaper.

"I'm working with the investigators about the case but I'm sure the video clip has been cut and edited with an intention to harm me. If a full video was showed, everyone would understand why I became so angry. The staff at the airport shouted at me first”.
