Hanoi promotes investment, trade and tourism in London

The Hanoi Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion Conference was held in London, the United Kingdom, on October 22, attracting a large number of British investors.

Speaking at the event, Vice Chairman of the Hanoi Municipal People’s Committee Ngo Van Quy said that the city has identified several priority industries and fields in line with the common development trend in which to attract more investment.


These include: the development of synchronous and modern urban technical infrastructure; smart urban area, water supply and drainage infrastructure; environment; information and technology; biotechnology; tourism; education and training; healthcare; logistics; financial centres; research and development centres; and technology centres of the country and region.

He also said that Hanoi was determined to build a service administration to accompany enterprises as well as constantly improve the investment environment and accelerate administrative reform to remove difficulties for foreign investment businesses.

Representatives from the Hanoi Department of Planning and Investment informed the British participants of the general plans for the city, the plans for satellite urban areas, and a number of projects.

At the conference, four memoranda of understanding (MoUs) on cooperation between the British enterprises in their investment projects in Vietnam.

The UK has now 80 valid investment projects, worth a total of over US$423 million, in the fields of real estate, communications, education and healthcare in Vietnam. The number of British tourists to the country has reached around 198,000 per year.
