Reports from the National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological indicate that typhoon Kammuri is forecast to move out of the eastern waters of the Philippines and begin to head towards the East Sea from the morning of December 2.

The typhoon was located at 12.9 degrees north latitude and 126.6 degrees east longitude at 7am on December 2 with strongest winds close to its centre reaching between 135km per hour and 165km per hour.

Over the course of the next 24 hours, typhoon Kammuri is expected to move west at a speed of 20km per hour across the Philippines’s central region.

In the next 72 hours, the weather pattern is predicted to travel north-northwest at a speed of between 10km to 15km per hour with the centre of the typhoon expected to be located approximately 430km north of Song Tu Tay island.

Ahead of the typhoon reaching Vietnamese waters, the Standing Office of the Central Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention sent an official telegram to the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Search, and Rescue in provinces and cities from Quang Ninh to Ca Mau.

Each of the committees in these provinces and cities have been urged to inform both residents and fishing vessels operating out at sea about the typhoon’s ongoing developments whilst asking them to seek shelter from the storm and take preventive measures.
