Football fans flood streets to celebrate Vietnam's historic SEA Games gold medal

Thousands of people flocked onto the streets with national flags to celebrate Vietnam's first-ever men’s football gold medal at the SEA Games on Tuesday evening.

Vietnam won the first-ever Southeast Asian Games gold medal after defeating their Indonesian rivals 3-0 in the final match in the Philippines on December 10.

After the match ended, the streets to Hanoi's centre were crowded with people cheering and waving the flags.

 



At 23 pm, Trang Tien and Hai Ba Trung streets were covered with red flags.

The same scene was seen in Ho Chi Minh City and many other provinces nation-wide. These photos show people celebrating the victory on some streets in Ho Chi Minh City.

 

Many people on Nguyen Hue Pedestrian Street in HCM City also started celebrating and flocking out to some other streets in the city centre such as Nguyen Thi Minh Khai and Le Duan right after the match.

 

 

Fans in many regions nation-wide including Binh Dinh, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, and Can Tho provinces also took the streets to celebrate the victory of the U22 team. Many streets were jammed.


The police had a hard-working day.
