4,000 people to join anti-terrorism drill in HCM City

As many as 4,000 people will join in an anti-terrorism drill held at various locations Ho Chi Minh City on December 15.



Deputy director of Ho Chi Minh City's Department of Public Security, Nguyen Sy Quang, says that the four-hour drill will deal with four hypothetical scenarios.

Speaking at a press conference held on December 12, deputy director of Ho Chi Minh City's Department of Public Security, Nguyen Sy Quang, said that the four-hour drill will deal with four hypothetical scenarios.

"In the first scenario, the terrorists gather and set up online groups who distort information about the current situation and cause disorder in the area," Quang said. "The second scenario deals with disorder at the Tan Son Nhat Airport. In the third and fourth scenario, terrorists attack state and government offices in the city centre."

Quang stressed that the new points in this year's drill would deal with online terrorists and those who use hazardous chemicals.

"These scenarios are suitable with the current security situation in the city and if they occur, not only the authorities but office staff and local residents can also deal with them."

Talking about the traffic situation on the day, head of the Road-Railway Traffic Police Department, Huynh Trung Phong said that traffic will be closed on five streets from 6-10 am on December 15 including Hai Ba Trung, Nguyen Dinh Chieu, Nam Ky Khoi Nghia, Nguyen Thi Minh Khai, and Nguyen Du.
