The Ministry of Education and Training has denied information calling for donations to help 24 Vietnamese students stuck in China's Wuhan City to return home.

According to the ministry, the news is incorrect. The ministry advised people to be careful to avoid being cheated.

The information published on a Facebook page called on people to donate to help to bring 24 Vietnamese students in Wuhan City to return home.

The page said that at least 24 Vietnamese students were stuck in Wuhan because of the coronavirus outbreak. The city is being isolated and the students do not have enough money to return home. Each student needs around USD1,000 for the bus and flight tickets.

The page maliciously claimed the Vietnamese government is facing financial difficulties so they can't help the students.

The list of people who donated a total USD324 by February 16 was also announced on the page.

The Vietnamese Ministry of Education and Training confirmed that to date just six Vietnamese students are in Wuhan for personal reasons.

The ministry's International Co-operation Department has kept a closed watch on the students and they have also contacted with the department and the Vietnamese embassy in China in necessary cases.
