Hanoi Police and the Department of Transport have set up 30 checkpoints along main routes that lead to the city in order to ensure that social distancing rules are applied.

The Hanoi Department of Public Security announced that starting at 6 pm on April 1, they have set up 30 checkpoints to inspect vehicles that want to enter the capital via road, rail and water. Passenger buses, taxis, contracted buses and all inter-province buses are banned. Quick tests will be provided at the checkpoints for those with a high fever.

The police will regulate the traffic and promote the social distancing rules as well as preventive measures to the public. Violators will be strictly punished.

The police asked all citizens to follow the rules and not spreading false information that will cause panic. Any action that can enable the virus to spread faster will be considered a criminal act. Profiteering can be reported to the police.

The team will take shifts to stay at the checkpoints 24/7 until April 15.
