Five more COVID-19 cases recorded on April 2, pushing total to 227

The Health Ministry announced the detection of five new cases of COVID-19 as of 18:00 on April 2, bringing the total number of cases in the country to 227.



Patient 223 is a 29-year old woman from Hai Hau District of Nam Dinh Province.

She took care of her relative in Hanoi-based Bach Mai Hospital from March 11-24 and was in contact with employees of Truong Sinh Company which provides food and logistics services to the hospital.

On March 26, she got fever and cough and was taken to the Central Hospital for Tropical Diseases where she was tested positive for the virus.

Patient 224 is a 39-year old Brazilian man living in District 2 in Ho Chi Minh City. He lived in the same room with patient 158.

Patient 225 is a 35-year old man from An Duong District of the northern port city of Hai Phong.

He has been working in Moscow, Russia for the past 10 years and retuned to Vietnam on March 25 on flight SU290.

He was taken to a centralized quarantine camp in Hanoi’s Thach That District upon his arrival.

Patient 226 is a 22-year old man who was o the same flight with patient 212.

Patient 227 is a 31-year old man who had been in close contact with his mother confirmed the 209 COVID-19 patient in Vietnam.

Of the total infection cases in Vietnam, 75 have been cleared of the virus and discharged from hospitals.
