Lai Chau man struggles with serious heart disease
A man from Thai ethnic group in Lai Chau Province is in desperate need of financial support to help treat his heart problems.
"After careful testing, the doctors said Lan had complicated heart problems and needed to be operated on quickly. The operation cost up to VND200m (USD8,600) after health insurance but Lan only has VND4m," Thai said.
According to Lan, he has felt tired and easily fainted since three years ago. However, without money, he only used herbal medicines. Recently, after he sold some rice for VND4m and felt much more tired than usual so he went to the hospital.
"Doctors said my condition was too serious so the district hospital sent me to the central hospital," he said. "I have no money left."
Lan also felt sad whenever he thought of his wife and child at home living without much to eat.
Dr Pham Van Tung said, "We didn't detect anything related to the brain but there are tests show that he may have something related to arrhythmia which can cause sudden death. This is a genetic disease. We plan to insert a pacemaker to adjust his heart rate."
