Vietnam reports 34 new Covid-19 cases, total rising to 784

Vietnam has recorded 34 new Covid-19 cases, raising the total number of patients to 784, the National Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control announced on Friday evening.

The new patients include 22 in Danang City, eight in Quang Nam Province, one in Hanoi, one in Hai Duong Province and two imported cases.

Patient 751 is a 45-year old man from Khanh Hoa Province. He came to Hanoi for a business trip and met his wife and children who came from the central city of Danang’s Son Tra District on July 23. On August 4, on the way from Hanoi to Hai Duong Province, he had high fever so was taken to Hai Duong General Hospital for a medical check-up and tested positive for SARS-CoV-2.

Patient 752 is a 30-year-old woman from Hanoi's Phuc Tho District. She travelled to Da Nang with her family from July 24-27. On August 2, she started to cough. She developed mild fever on August 5 and tested positive for the virus. The woman is now being treated at the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases.

Patient 753 is a 30-year old Philippine man who landed at the Tan Son Nhat International Airport after transiting in Hong Kong. He is being treated at the Cu Chi Makeshift Hospital for Covid-19 patients in Ho Chi Minh City.

Patient 754 is a 30-year- old man working on a vessel from Qatar to Vung Tau Port in the southern coastal province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau on July 28. He has been quarantined upon arrival and is now being treated at the Ba Ria Hospital.

Patients numbered from 755-771 and 780-784 are residents of Danang City.

Patients numbered from 722-779 are residents of Quang Nam Province.

As of Friday evening, the number of Covid-19 patients related to Danang has increased to 330, the committee said.

The same day, three more patients were discharged from hospital, raising the total number of recoveries to 395. The country has reported 10 deaths.
