Vietnam confirms 21 new Covid-19 infection cases, total rises to 810

Vietnam has recorded 21 new Covid-19 cases, raising the total number of patients to 810, the National Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control announced on Saturday evening.


Hanoi carries out PCR tests for people returning from Danang City.

The new patients include 15 in Danang City, two in Quang Nam Province, two in Bac Giang Province, one in Khanh Hoa Province and one imported case from the US.

Patient 790 is a 17-year old man who landed at the Hanoi-based Noi Bai International Airport on August 6 on flight VN2 from the US and was quarantined upon arrival. He is now being treated at the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Hanoi.


Patient 719 is a 45-year old man in Khanh Hoa Province. He previously had close contact with Patient 751.

Patients 792 and 796 are from Quang Nam Province. One of them visited their relative and the other was a patient at the Danang Hospital. They are now being treated at the Quang Nam Provincial General Hospital.

Patients 793 and 794 are family members from Bac Giang Province. They travelled to Danang from July 21-27. Both are being treated at the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Hanoi.

Patient 795 and patients numbered 797-810 are residents of Danang. Among them, one is a patient, one is a health worker and 13 others had close contact with people who later tested positive for Covid-19.

As of Saturday evening, the number of Covid-19 patients related to Danang City has increased to 353 since July 25, the committee said.

A total of 395 patients have recovered and the country has reported 10 deaths.
