Hung, 50, was born in the central province of Ha Tinh’s Huong Son district. He used to work for the Asian Development Bank.

He was appointed as Deputy Governor of the SBV in October 2011 and assigned as Deputy Chief of the Party Central Committee’s Office three years later, before holding the post of SBV Governor since April 2016.

Speaking at the ceremony, Politburo member and permanent member of the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat Tran Quoc Vuong said he believed that with his experience, Hung will successfully complete the tasks assigned by the Politburo, especially preparing well for the organisation of the 13th National Party Congress.
