Breast cancer is among the most common causes of deaths in women. There are about 11,000 breast cancer cases and over 4,500 deaths every year in Vietnam.

Huge advances in the medical fields and new treatments for cancer patients like chemotherapy or radiotherapy have helped reduce the fatality rate. However, It was most important to detect and treat cancer as early as possible.

Cho Ray Hospital said free breast cancer examinations will be provided for 1,000 women aged over 40 years old from October 24 to November 11. The doctors will give clinical examinations, breast ultrasound and consultancy to the patients.

People who want to check for breast cancer can register via mobile phone from October 21 to October 31.

Many buildings in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City were covered by pink lights on the evening of October 19 to raise people's awareness about breast cancer prevention. The media campaign to have early breast cancer screening has been initiated and carried out by Bright Future Fund since 2013.
