Vietnam records 12 imported Covid-19 patients on October 24

12 more Vietnamese citizens who recently returned from France, Russia, Angola, and Germany have tested positive for SARS-CoV-2, raising the total number of Covid-19 patients in the country to 1,160, the Ministry of Health announced on Saturday evening.

According to the ministry's report, the new patients include two people from France, three from Russia, three from Germany, and four from Angola. They were all sent to quarantine areas upon arrival and tested positive for coronavirus on October 23 and 24.

The 12 new patients are now being treated at local hospitals in a stable health condition.

With these new infection cases, the number of imported Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 469.

As of 6 pm on October 24, a total of 1,051 Covid-19 patients had recovered and been discharged from hospital. There have been 35 deaths, most of them being the elderly with serious underlying diseases.

The country has gone 52 days without reporting any new case in the community.

At present, 14,149 people who had close contact with Covid-19 patients or returned from virus-hit areas are being monitored at hospitals, quarantine facilities, and at home.
