In October, the country has seen 1,299 traffic accidents, leaving 580 dead and 1,021 injured, down 17.58%; 11.99% and 18.54% on-year.

Between January and October, road accidents accounted for 6,582 cases with 5,348 deaths and 3,500 injuries, down 10.45%; 13.39% and 13.81% against the same phase of last year.

The railway sector saw 73 cases, leaving 58 deaths and 18 injuries. The waterway sector saw 52 accidents with 41 deaths and five injuries.

The main reason for the significant reduction was attributable to the positive impacts of the Law on Alcohol Harm Prevention and Control that took effect on January 1, 2020 along with Government Decree 100 on increased fines for drink driving.

Additionally, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, particularly the social distancing period, people drove less than usual.
