Nearly 350 Vietnamese citizens left stranded in Russia due to the COVID-19 pandemic have been safely repatriated by national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines.

The plane landed at Van Don International Airport in Quang Ninh province, northern Vietnam, on October 30.

On board the plane were minors under 18, pregnant women, the elderly, sick people, guest workers whose labour contracts had expired, students who had finished their courses, and other special cases.

The Vietnamese Embassy in Russia worked closely with relevant agencies of the host country to assist the citizens with travel and necessary procedure before their departure.

Vietnam Airlines implemented necessary epidemiological measures during the flight to prevent possible spread of the virus.

All passengers were medically examined and quarantined according to regulations on COVID-19 prevention and control as soon as the plane landed at Van Don airport.

Vietnamese authorities are arranging more repatriation flights to bring home more Vietnamese citizens stranded overseas in accordance with the epidemic situation and isolation capacity in the country.
