100 potentially sick pigs abandoned on road
Nearly 100 pigs found on the side of a road in the central province of Nghe An are suspected of having African Swine Fever.
After receiving the report, the authorities in Nghia Lac Commune, Nghia Dan District worked together with the authorities in Xuan Binh Commune, Nhu Xuan District to collect the pigs and disinfect the site to prevent the spread of possible outbreak.
"It's unacceptable. Throwing out dead pigs and abandoning a large number of pigs like that will badly affect the environment and the lives of other people living nearby. African Swine Fever is still developing complicatedly in several locations," said Lo Van Thuy, vice chairman of Nghia Lac Commune People's Committee.
The local authorities have sent employees to disinfect the site, cull the pigs and set up check-points to prevent similar cases.
