On February 24, Phan Huy Vu, director of the Dong Nai Department of Health, has signed an official document asking the Dong Nai People's Committee to provide 6.2 million doses of vaccine for all 3.1 million residents in the province through the provincial budget. According to the Dong Nai Department of Health, the pandemic is still developing and vaccination is an effective solution to keep the infection rate low in the long-run.

During an online meeting with the National Steering Committee on Covid-19 Prevention and Control, Nguyen Thi Hanh, vice-chairwoman of Quang Ninh Provincial People's Committee said they had issued many solutions and measures to ensure public health and develop the economy.

They have reduced 10% of regular spending to save more money for Covid-19 preventive measures, natural disasters and other emergencies. Quang Ninh Province will save as much money as possible by limiting meetings, training courses and new policies which are not urgent. The aim is to have at least VND500bn (USD21.6m) to buy vaccines for all the residents in the province.

Quang Ninh People's Committee submitted a request on February 6 asking the National Steering Committee on Covid-19 Prevention and Control to give priority to Quang Ninh to buy vaccines as soon as possible. As of February 24, Quang Ninh authorities had completed the contact tracing tasks related to the outbreaks in Van Don Airport and Chi Linh City, Hai Duong Province.

From January 27 to February 24, Quang Ninh reported 61 new confirmed cases and one person who was tested positive again after being treated at a field hospital in Hai Duong.

Several cities and provinces including Hai Phong and Hanoi also proposed to buy vaccines for all residents.

Le Viet Dung, deputy head of the Drug Administration of Vietnam signed the official document to import the first 204,000 doses into Vietnam on February 9. Vietnam also expects to receive 4.88 million doses of vaccines via the Covax Facility in the first quarter which is enough for 2,443,300 people. Due to the limited amount of vaccine, priority will be given to frontline workers and people in outbreak areas.
