The Binh Thuan Provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control and Search and Rescue announced on February 28 that two Vietnamese tourists from Ho Chi Minh City have died after being washed away by strong wind and high waves at a local beach.

According to the committee, a group of four tourists travelled from Ho Chi Minh City to Mui Ne on February 27. They came to bath at Ganh Tourist Site at 5.30pm. Two of them were washed away due to high waves.

Two others called the rescue forces who were able to find and bring one of the missings ashore. However, the 29-year-old man died on the way to hospital.

The body of the second tourist who was a 30-year-old woman was found later that night.

The Binh Thuan Provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has recently warned about strong wind and high waves during this time at local beaches.
