Bac Ninh to get military help to deal with Covid-19 outbreak
The Ministry of Defence has asked related units to send staff to the new Covid-19 hotspots of Bac Giang and Bac Ninh to help in the fight against the pandemic.
Military Hospital 108 must prepare to help and prevent cross-infection inside the hospital. The General Department of Logistics must have plans for quick mobilisation and military medical units are asked to be on alert especially as election day for the 15th National Assembly and People's Councils is near.
Giang ordered the purchasing of some mobile laboratories immediately to improve testing capacity. Outdoor training courses will be temporarily halted to limit the chances of going to outbreak areas. The military personnel will be tested and fill in medical declaration forms regularly.
As of May 16, nearly 82,000 Covid-19 vaccine shots were given to the military personnel. They are also preparing seven quarantine centres for 16,000 people. Some 12,000 personnel also patrol and stay at 1,800 border checkpoints.
Major General Nguyen Xuan Kien, Head of the Department of Military Medicine, said they had drafted five plans for different scenarios while preparing field hospitals for Covid-19 cases. 154 quick-response teams were set up in case they have to arrive and take test samples quickly amid an outbreak.
