Deputy Director of Hanoi CDC Khong Minh Tuan said they had submitted the proposal to ease social distancing rules to the Department of Health. According to the proposal, restaurants with on-site services and outdoor activities can be resumed from June 22.

"Preventive measures must still be applied. For example, restaurants must have dividers and work at half their capacity," he said.

Deputy Director of Hanoi Department of Health Hoang Duc Hanh said Hanoi authorities were also considering easing social distancing. They must review everything carefully to see what services can be reopened first.

Hanoi hasn't recorded any new Covid-19 cases from June 15 until now. However, the situation in provinces like Bac Giang and Bac Ninh and in HCM City is still complicated and the risks are still high.

On May 5, Hanoi authorities ordered to suspend various services including massage parlours, cinemas, gyms and beauty salons. Hanoi authorities suspended bars on May 11 and restaurants on May 25. Only take-away services are allowed.
