Word journalists talk about fake news and COVID-19
Some 100 journalists, media professors and experts around the globe on Monday started sharing a common problem on fake news in their respective countries related to COVID-19 which is the real threat of human lives at the social media era.

The discussion on ZOOM is organized by Journalists Association of Korea (JAK) for “World Journalists Conference 2020”.
It is the first time since 2013 that the annual World Journalists Conference conducted on Online due to deadly COVID-19 pandemic around the world.
Speaking at the opening address, Korean Prime Minister Chung Sye-Kyun said “fake news” poses such a real threat to human lives should sound an alarm.
“The world has been besieged by an epidemic unprecedented in our lifetime and subsequent economic recession. Meanwhile, we are grappling with fake news that spreads like wildfire,” Sye-Kyun said.
According to the conference host, there are some 100 participants from 59 countries joining the conference.
JAK President Dong Hoon Kim said despite having different genders, skin colors, and ideologies, journalists still share some commonalities….and all work hard to make the truth known with a warm heart and cold rationality, ultimately for peace and freedom.
“Although we are only meeting online, I hope that you would all exchange opinions and recommendations so that we may all fulfill our calling as journalists as the conference provides us with precious opportunities to discuss major global issues,’ Hoon Kim added.
Three main themes – Various Countries’ Examples of and Countermeasures to Fake News and The Future of the Journalists; Global Responses to COVID-19 and Disease Control Methods; and the 70th anniversary of the Korean War and Peace Policy in the Korean Peninsula – are to be focus during the 3-day conference.
