Tech awards handed out at Hanoi Opera House

Nguyen Minh Hong, Vice Minister of Information & Communications cum head of the final round council for the Vietnam ICT Awards 2009 expected that the Vietnam ICT (information and communication technology) Awards would contribute partly to the development of the national ICT industry.

There were 31 prizes for organsiations and enterprises granted at the 2009 ICT Awards ceremony on March 20 in Hanoi.

In the field of providing fixed, mobile and internet telecommunication services, Vietnam Posts & Telecommunications Group (VNPT) won a prize for the best fixed network provider and Viettel won a prize for the best mobile network provider.

In addition, Vinaphone, MobiFone under VNPT Group achieved a prize of providing the best post-paid, additional and customer care services. Vietnam Data Transmission Company (VDC) had 4 prizes for the best internet, broadband internet, customer care and additional internet services provider.

In the field of IT industry, a prize for best software provider went to the Corporation for Financing and Promoting Technology (FPT). Vinaphone won a prize for best digital content.

Particularly, “IT Knight” Nguyen Cong Hung won a prize for the best IT training center for invalids.

In the IT application field, the Ministry of Trade & Industry gained a prize for the most effective IT application by a state owned agency.

 

According to Nguyen Minh Hong, this year’s programme made changes compared with 2008 in terms of the scope of awards and criteria in line with current development and application of ICT in Vietnam as well as state’s management guidelines in order to improve the awards quality and encourage more and more organisations and companies to attend the competition.
