The move is aimed to mitigate rush hour traffic jams in the capital city.

As a result, the city will have students at universities, colleges, vocational training schools and high schools to begin morning classes at 6:30am and finish afternoon shift at 7pm.

Preschool, primary schools and secondary school students will have class from 7:30am-5:30pm.

Employees of both central and municipal government agencies will work from 8am to 5pm.

The regulation will even apply to the retail and service sectors. These companies, excluding banks will have their business hours from 9am to 7pm.

Military organisations and factories will be allowed to keep their hours unchanged.

These new office and school hours will be applied to 10 districts in the inner city, as well as two outlying districts, Tu Liem and Thanh Tri.
