Torrential rain leaves eight dead in northern central localities

At last eight people have died as days of torrential rain lashed several localities in the northern central region of Vietnam.

 

Flooding in Thanh Hoa Province

In Nghe An Province, two students died after being caught in a flood in Yen Thanh District on their way to school. A local man died after being struck by lightning.

Three students drowned in Quynh Luu District after being swept away by a flash flood while playing at a local dyke on September 18.

Two primary school students drowned in Ha Tinh Province.

In Thanh Hoa Province, five days of torrential rain flooded some 1,000 houses, occupants taking to rooftops to escape the rising water, and 3,000 hectares of rice was wiped out. Many local roads were destroyed.
