Two dead after Quang Ninh coach crash

A coach carrying 29 people crashed into a cliff in the northern province of Quang Ninh, leaving two dead and 27 injured.

The accident occurred this morning, January 30, when the coach was on the way from Thai Binh Province’s Dong Hung District to Quang Ninh Province’s Uong Bi Town to visit the Ba Vang Pagoda.

Some witnesses say that they heard a big explosion from the coach just before the accident happened. The trapped and injured called for help to escape the wreckage. The injured passengers were taken to the Vietnam-Sweden Hospital.

Two people died on the way to the hospital, while the remaining passengers are now staying at the hospital for treatment, including one with serious injuries.

Quang Ninh Province’s authorities also mobilised doctors from Bai Chay Hospital to provide further aid to the Vietnam-Sweden Hospital.

Police and local authorities are investigating the cause of the accident.

According to National Traffic Safety Committee, 109 road traffic accidents were recorded during January 27-29 across Vietnam, leaving 64 dead and 112 injured.
