Dan Tri helps build classrooms in Dien Bien

Dan Tri/DTiNews Newspaper has started the construction of the classrooms in the mountainous province of Dien Bien on May 17.

Dan Tri's deputy editor-in-chief Nguyen Luong Phan, head of Mountainous Underprivileged Students Fund Tran Dang Tuan, deputy head of Tuan Giao District's Department of Education Mai Van Thuyet and leaders of Pu Xi Communes, teachers, parents and pupils of Pu Xi Primary School attended the ceremony.

Hua Muc 1 school site is one of Pu Xi Primary School’s ten sites. About a month ago, a thunderstorm and heavy rain caused landslides and destroyed the school. The teachers and pupils had to use local houses to hold classes.

Many readers have donated to rebuild the school after knowing about the situation. Dan Tri Newspaper also contributed and will help build five classrooms, three staffrooms, one kitchen and a toilet. The building and grounds will cost around USD30,800.

This is the first charity work of Dan Tri's readers in Dien Bien and 32nd classroom construction in Vietnam. Over 100 houses and 13 bridges have been built to help disadvantaged people with millions of VND donated to help victims of natural disasters with the help of readers.

"We hope the teachers and pupils will study and work well with the new classrooms," said Dan Tri's deputy editor-in-chief Nguyen Luong Phan.

Doan Van Thu, the headmaster of Pu Xi Primary School, said there were many difficulties at the Hua Muc 1 school site. They were shocked when the school was destroyed two months ago and couldn’t express enough their thanks for the kindness they have received.

At the ground-breaking ceremony, Dan Tri also gave 20 scholarships to the pupils.
