Central region experiences slow internet as cable breaks yet again
Central region internet users are experiencing slow services as the undersea cable broke yet again on June 20.
The VNPT said they were co-operating with foreign partners to find the cause of the problem and solution to restore the connection. VNPT has also diverted the traffic to other cables including the SMW-3, AAG and CSC so that their customers won't be so badly affected.
The representative of Viettel said as of now, they hadn't determined the exact location and time required for the cable repair work. Asides from the APG, Viettel is also using the AAG and IA undersea cable systems as well as on-land cables through China, Cambodia and Thailand. Viettel said their customers hadn't been affected.
In 2014 and Vietnam's internet connectivity suffered as the AAG broke twice. It broke three times in 2015 and once in 2016. It then went under two maintenance, both times badly affected the internet connection.
The APG cable system officially went live last December to help ease the data flow of the AAG. VNPT, Viettel, FPT Telecom and CMC Telecom invested in the cable 10,400km long cable that has a bandwidth of 54 Tb/s, 20 times faster than the AAG.
