Hanoi- Stand-Up Comedy with Ron Josol and David Alfie Ward

Some comedians are made for performing in Southeast Asia, and Ron Josol is one of them. A Filipino-Canadian who has been plying the North American comedy circuit for 20 years, he’s one of those comics who’s come to Southeast Asia, made people fall off their seats in laughter, and then come back again… and again, and again.

HCMC- Opera “The Magic Flute”

The famous opera “The Magic Flute – Die Zauberflöte” by the great composer W.A.Mozart will be back to stage again 2 nights 30/6 and 1/7/2017 at the Opera House. This is a major art project conducted by HBSO with the supporting of the Norwegian Transposition Project.

VCCA’s inaugural event is contemporary art exhibition “Tỏa / The Foliage” taking place from 06 June to 06 August. The exhibition is the merging point of East and West, introducing more than 50 artworks by 19 renowned contemporary artists from Vietnam and overseas.

Hanoi-Exhibition “Sparkling – Collection of Lacquered and Gilded Wood Objects”

Featuring nearly 100 objects dating from the Le and Nguyen dynasties, including statues and objects for worshipping with the decorations of Vietnamese sacred and mythical animals. In which, the unique and rare objects will be showed to the public for the first time.

With concise, useful information and lively illustrations, this series is a great source of references for children to discover the world.

Hanoi- Lacquer Painting Exhibition “Nature – Nostalgia”

Dang Thu Huong, Ly Truc Son, and Nguyen Thi Que, artists of the first generation of the Vietnamese School of Fine Arts, explored the oriental art of sanded lacquer in the 1990s. The destructive war brings them closer to nature and inspires them with simple subjects: flowers, people, the countryside… The charm of their works resides in the sparkling of the lacquer and its red, black, silver and gold palette.

An unprecedented combination of the best of Italian Renaissance’s masterpieces and technology will unveil to the Vietnamese public an exclusive collection of 35 digital artworks of one of the most prominent Italian painters of the XV-XVI century: Raffaello Sanzio, Raphaël. Visitors will be taken along a journey of celebrated harmony of colors, lines and characters belonging to different eras and worlds and through the unique refined beauty that made the Italian Renaissance renowned worldwide, earning universal reputation and immortality to the genius of its artists.

An exhibition of works on paper by five Vietnam-based contemporary artists. Each in their own subjective way, Le Hoang Bich Phuong,
Mai Hoang, Nguyen Manh Hung, Florian Nguyen and Hoang Nam Viet explore the myriad possibilities inherent in the medium of drawing to create imaginary realities evoking the subconscious.
With their ink and paper, the artists create visions of hidden beauty and reinterpretations of the world, revealing quasi-hallucinatory perspectives on an otherwise too familiar landscape.

Featuring photographs, paintings and video works selected from Post Vidai Collection. The exhibition showcases eight established and emerging Vietnamese artists and collective, including Dinh Q. Le, Hoang Duong Cam, Howard Henry Chen, Le Quy Tong, Ngoc Nau, Phuong Linh, The Propeller Group and Vo An Khanh. A number of artworks, such as Dinh Q. Le’s WTC in four moments (2014), The Propeller Group’s AK-47 vs. M16 (2015) and Phuong Linh’s Sanctified Clouds (2012-2015), will be on display for the first time to Vietnamese public.

This is a group exhibition by Tran Kim Hoa, Do Nguyen Lap Xuan, Hoang Nam Viet, Xuan Ha (Grandmadeadxh) and Yatender, curated by Shyevin S’ng and Le Thien Bao.
The concept of ‘the self’ forms a recurrent strand throughout history. Reaching back tens of thousands of years into human history, cave paintings and petroglyphs (such as Chauvet Cave, Ardèche Valley, in France), show the roots of our innate desire to understand who we are.
