Hue to expand pedestrianised area to Truong Tien Bridge
>> Hue to pedestrianise three streets Hue authorities are planning to pedestrianise Truong Tien Bridge after announcing that they would ban vehicles on three pedestrian streets.
Vice Chairman of Hue Nguyen Dang Thanh suggested pedestrianising the bridge during the weekend as it can connect well to the plan to pedestrianise three other streets from Friday to Sunday nights.
The project must be approved by the Ministry of Transport and related agencies.
Truong Tien Bridge and the Huong River beneath are considered the icons of Hue City and popular tourist site. In August, the local authorities also started renovating the sidewalks on the bridge for pedestrians in accordance with the designs under King Bao Dai's reign.
During Hue Traditional Craft Festival 2017 held in April, a fashion show featuring 19 ao dai designs was held on Truong Tien Bridge. And during Hue Festival 2014, the bridge was lit up by fire in an installation by French artists.
The city authorities have discussed with other agencies about pedestrianising Chu Van An, Pham Ngu Lao and Vo Thi Sau streets for tourism this September. Vehicles will be banned from entering the streets from 6 pm to 2 am. Hue Chairman Nguyen Van Thanh said the pedestrian streets aim to meet the entertainment needs from both the locals and tourists and this would be one of the city's highlight and help enrich its tourism services.
