Three workers fall to death from building project
Three workers died after falling from an apartment building project in the northern province of Quang Ninh’s Ha Long City.
The workplace accident happened at 2 pm on August 22 at Newlife Tower apartment building at Bai Chay Ward invested by Hanoi Import Export and Investment Corporation, said Doan Hong Lam, the ward chairman.
The workers suddenly fell to the first floor and died while installing some equipment for an escalator at the building's the seventh floor.
The victims were identified as Huynh Giang Nguyen, 28, in Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province; Nguyen Hoai Phong, 18, and Tran Hieu Nam, 22, from HCM City.
An investigation is underway to find the cause of the accident. The province has provided VND6 million (USD272.7) for each victim.
The project has been temporarily suspended to check the workplace safety.
Earlier on August 16, a worker suffered from serious burns from an electric shock at a house which was being built in Ha Tu Ward, Ha Long City. Electric wiring was said to have been dislodged during the transport of construction materials using a winch.
