Nhan, also a member of the Politburo, made the statement while receiving a US delegation, led by Ted Yoho, Chairman of the Subcommittee on Asia and the Pacific, under the US House Foreign Affairs Committee, on October 18.

He lauded the progress made in Vietnam-US relations, stating that more and more US investment projects in trade, education and technology are arriving in Vietnam.

HCM City aims to proactively promote its trade-investment ties with the US, the official added, hoping that Yoho would continue to support his country’s ties with Vietnam and HCM City.

Expressing his delight at the developments in their bilateral relations and that of the city’s economy, Yoho commended the effective collaboration between HCM City and US localities in trade, education, and infrastructure.

He said that many US firms are interested in the local market and he hopes that the authorities would create favourable conditions for US companies to study and invest in the market.

The US congressman said that the US is willing to assist HCM City in terms of urban development, especially in smart city building.

The US is HCM City’s 10th largest foreign investor with 350 projects worth more than US$640 million. US investment accounted for a third of total overseas capital poured into the city in the first nine months of 2017.
